Upper Manyame SubCatchment Council derives its functions from the Water Act of 1998 CAP (20:24) and relevant statutory Instruments. Functions include:-
- Regulating and supervising the exercise of permits for the use of water including ground water within the area of jurisdiction.
- Monitoring water flows and water use in accordance with allocations made under permits;
- Monitoring water use (both surface and ground water)
- Ensuring that water measuring devices are installed
- Catchment Protection
- Water development and use licensing
- Conflict resolution and consensus building
- Mobilizing stakeholder participation
